Students practice methods of organization and time management, review how their study choices help them process information and are introduced to new methods of active study. We also teach basic research skills of accessing and evaluating information as well as introduce students to different types of academic resources they are expected to use at Kent. For many, Kent provides a first opportunity to create written work synthesizing one’s ideas with the published work of others and we teach students how to do this well. Navigating the vast world of information available today is an essential and life-long skill, and in NSS we encourage students to approach these challenges with an inquiring mind.
