Closely analyze the American past in Advanced Studies in United States History. By focusing on selected individuals and groups, their ideas, and the political, social, and economic effects of their thinking, you will increase your ability to support ideas through evidence and well-constructed essays. You will use a combination of primary and secondary sources to prompt the critical analysis of historiography and the inclusion of diverse narratives. 

Prerequisite: departmental approval. Students enrolled in this course may opt to take the AP U.S. History exam.
