Kent School proudly recognizes the achievements of Peter MacGill '70 whose extensive personal archive has been recently acquired by The Getty Research Institute (GRI), acknowledging his significant contributions to the world of photography.
Throughout his career, MacGill has worked with celebrated photographers such as Richard Avedon, Harry Callahan, Robert Frank, Irving Penn, and Alfred Stieglitz, among others. He has mounted over 500 exhibitions and published numerous catalogs, showcasing both established and emerging artists.
MacGill's influence extends beyond the gallery walls, as he has played a crucial role in acquiring important photographic collections from leading institutions, including the Museum of Modern Art and the Museum of Fine Arts Houston.
The GRI's acquisition of MacGill's archive ensures that his legacy will continue to inspire and educate future generations of photography enthusiasts and scholars.
