Kent Alumnus Named 2025 MathCON Future Leader

Kent School alumnus Arthur Illidge ’25 was named the 2025 MathCON Future Leader, a national honor recognizing excellence in mathematics, leadership, and service. The award includes a four-year scholarship and is presented annually to one outstanding MathCON senior finalist. At the 2025 MathCON Finals, Illidge placed third overall among all 12th-grade competitors.

MathCON brings together thousands of students from across the country, celebrating not only mathematical achievement but also creativity, empathy, and leadership. Illidge was selected for his passion for mathematics and his inclusive approach to leadership.

“Through competitions like MathCON, I’ve found joy in applying the mathematical tools I’ve learned toward forming challenging problems and creative solutions,” Illidge said in a statement to MathCON.

Now a freshman at Purdue University, he  is majoring in Mathematics with interests in Number Theory and Abstract Algebra. He hopes to pursue a Ph.D. in pure mathematics and contribute to meaningful research in the field.

As part of the award, Illidge will serve on the MathCON Alumni Advisory Board, supporting future competitions and mentoring students. 

The Kent Mathematics Department is now preparing students to qualify for the 2026 MathCON Finals set for May 23, 2026.
