Kent Alumni Take Center Stage in Washington Capitals' Front Office

With recent changes in the Washington Capitals' front office, the spotlight has shifted to the Patrick family, who serve as long-standing pillars of the organization.

Dick Patrick '64, P'94, has been a steadfast presence within the Capitals since 1982. His tenure spans an impressive 32 playoff appearances in 40 seasons, a testament to his dedication and leadership. He was also instrumental in the formation of Monumental Sports & Entertainment in 2010, where he stood as an original partner alongside owner Ted Leonsis. Now, Dick Patrick assumes the role of Chairman of the Capitals, a position that recognizes his enduring impact and influence within the organization.

In his 16th season with the Capitals, Chris Patrick '94 has been an integral part of the organization's growth. His journey began in player development, and he subsequently advanced through the ranks as a scout and director of player personnel. With his new role as Associate General Manager, Chris Patrick will take on even greater responsibilities. These include overseeing the analytics department, player contract negotiations, the hockey operations staff, player personnel decisions, budget management, and team scheduling issues.

The Capitals' front office restructuring not only signifies a new chapter for the franchise but also underscores the influence of Kent School alumni in the world of professional sports management.
