Dionne B. '26 Gains Hands-on Medical Experience at Yale University

This summer, Dionne B. '26 took her passion for healthcare to the next level by participating in the National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF) Medicine & Health Care program at Yale University. The eight-day program offers high school students the chance to explore the medical field through hands-on training, interactive lessons, and visits to accredited medical institutions.

“I really enjoyed learning phlebotomy because it combined technical skill with patient interaction,” Dionne said. “The program also helped me develop soft skills like identifying the chief complaint and exploring the history of present illness, which are essential for becoming a better future healthcare provider.”

Dionne gained experience in areas such as suturing, phlebotomy, disaster triage, and biomedical engineering, while also developing valuable skills for patient care.
