Girls Lacrosse

Girls Lacrosse
Kent’s Girls Lacrosse program challenges its players both physically and mentally as students, athletes, and leaders.
Overview

Skill Development & Teamwork
Girls Lacrosse emphasizes constant skill development, regardless of previous experience or abilities. This ensures that as each individual becomes stronger as a player, they become more effective as a teammate.

Leadership & Character Development
As the teams work towards success on the field, they build a strong and supportive team dynamic and teach the young athletes the importance of character on and off the field.
Meet the Coaches
Coach Cara Clarke
Coach Cara Clarke has been coaching for more than 15 years. Before Kent, she has been the head coach at The Forman School, Cushing Academy, and Wilbraham and Monson Academy. She has also spent countless hours coaching and working with Youth Lacrosse Programs over the years in both CT and MA. Coach Clarke has also been a head field hockey coach over the years and played Division III field hockey at Hartwick College where her team went to the Final Four.
"The Kent Girls Lacrosse motto is 'The two things you are always in control of in your life are your effort and your attitude,'" says Coach Clarke. "In our program we carry this motto wherever we go and remind ourselves of this as we encounter the highs and lows of athletics. We pride ourselves on sportsmanship and hard work, both of which are always in our own control."
"Coaching is my favorite part of the day. Being with the team on the turf every afternoon in the spring is where I feel I am at my best. Athletics is an avenue for life. If a student-athlete can take the lessons learned from competing on the field and being a good teammate to other parts of their life, I know they can find success as they move on from Kent. I feel lucky in my capacity as head coach to work with student-athletes who put 100% into every practice and every game, who want to compete, who want to be there for their teammates, and who love the game."
"My hope for anyone who comes through our lacrosse program at Kent is for them to leave here with a sense of confidence and pride in themselves as an student-athlete but more importantly as a complete person. I want every player to feel a part of something that is greater than themselves. I hope they can take the skills they learned on the field with their teammates and go out to make this world a better place. I want them to always feel they have a place to come home to at Kent and a family that loves them. Kent Girls Lacrosse is about being part of a larger family. The arms of that family not only extend when they are here with us, but branch out even further as they move on to the next chapter in their lives."

Many Kent lacrosse athletes go on to play lacrosse at the collegiate level whether it is in Division 1 or Division 3. We are also very proud of the fact that many of our lacrosse athletes play multiple sports while at Kent, and therefore are engaged with other teams and coaches in the Fall and Winter seasons. This creates stronger teams of experienced and dedicated student-athletes.
