Boys Cross Country
Kent nurtures excellent runners: young men known throughout the Founders League for their natural talent, exceptional conduct, and race-day accomplishments.
Overview
Skill Development & Teamwork
Runners at Kent enjoy a great variety of resources. We have amazing trails right on and near campus, with parks, dirt roads, and mountains all around. Our home course is one of the most challenging in New England, built by hand, and certainly one of the most beautiful and natural. Our workouts are varied and interesting. Hills, distance, speed, technique drills, form work, core strengthening, and more form the foundation our strong but well-spaced racing schedule.
Leadership & Character Development
The diverse, enthusiastic, and committed group of young men who compose the team are focused equally on strong performances as well as resilience, sportsmanship, and respect.
Meet the Coach
Coach Jeremy Sokolnicki
Running presents an opportunity to test oneself, push limits, and excel. I hope to instill a passion and enthusiasm for the sport in the young men who join the Kent team. Running has added great balance to my life, and I am routinely reminded by Kent alumni of the enjoyment that their seasons with the team have brought them, and the strong memories that remain with them far into the future. The thrill of the race, the challenge of the workout, the good friends, and the great times are what running is all about. Competing well is a nice bonus!

Really nice day for a race today, polar opposite of the heavy rain and treachery of last years event. The Kent boys ran very well, with a number of personal best times set on the hilly and challenging TP course. We were led by Johnson Y., who finished first overall in the field of three teams. Not far behind, and with an aggressive race, was Sebastian Y. only slightly slower than his 5k last weekend on a track, quite impressive. Co-captain Arthur I. pulled across the line in fifth overall, close behind the TP and Berkshire top finishers, and despite his dissatisfaction with his execution there was nothing to be ashamed of in his effort. Ben B. delivered an excellent performance, looking strong and focused, passing a few competitors in the final 800m to help lock in the win. Co-captain Edward L. showed strength today, running better than ever and crossing the line in fifth for Kent. Patrick L. is coming back into top form, and was our sixth finisher. And the improvement of the day goes to Bennett M., who set a big-time personal best and concluded our varsity finishers! Owen Z. pleasantly surprised everyone, himself included, with a solid eighth place team finish, exceeding his time prediction for the day. Joshua B. had a great kick and was in good form, and Engle Z. overcame some mental hurdles and closed out the race for Kent with a nice effort.

Running is an adventure. While very much a team sport, running can be a singular experience in many ways. For those who enjoy pushing themselves, setting goals and working hard to reach them, getting out into nature and moving fast, cross country is the perfect endeavor.
