With more than 8,500 alumni throughout the country and around the world, the Alumni Office looks to volunteers to strengthen the ties between alumni and Kent, and to build support for the School. Every year, over 200 alumni demonstrate their devotion to Kent by volunteering their time for the benefit of the School, their classmates and fellow alumni.
There are a number of ways to get involved:
Class Agents are an important link between the School and the class. Agents oversee communication for their class – whether it’s posting on a Class Facebook Group, submitting notes for the Kent Quarterly, or letting the Alumni Office know about a classmate’s achievements. Agents encourage classmates to contribute to the Annual Alumni Fund and build support for Kent. With the help of Reunion Volunteers, Class Agents lead the effort for Reunions (see below). Some classes have just one Agent, while others have a group of Agents.
Reunion Volunteers play an important role in generating enthusiasm for an upcoming reunion. Through phone calls, letters, emails and class Facebook groups, reunion volunteers engage their classmates and build excitement for returning to campus.
Host an event in your area. Many regional alumni events are hosted or initiated by alumni (and sometimes by a group of alumni). If you are interested in hosting an event or have an idea for an event in your area, please let us know! The Alumni Office will work closely with you from beginning to end.
Become a Mentor by signing up on the Alumni App. This feature lets fellow alumni know that you have offered to help others who are interested in your area of expertise. Go to the Profile Settings of your account to sign up. More information about the Alumni App is available here.
If you would like to get involved in any of the ways mentioned above, or if you have a new idea, please contact Denny Mantegani, Director of Alumni Giving, at ManteganiD@kent-school.edu or 860-927-6274. We welcome new volunteers!
