Instructions for applicants from mainland China

  1. Begin your application online using the Standard Application Online or through Gateway to Prep Schools. A complete application for admission includes:
    • Inquiry form
    • Interview via Vericant only, accessible to Kent School by December 1.  See first frequently asked question below for information regarding campus visits. 
    • Biographic information
    • Student essays
    • Recommendations
      • Counselor or Principal
      • English
      • Math
    • Transcripts: Current & Prior Year
    • Test scores
      • SSAT for students applying for grades 9 and 10.  Our school code is 4336.
      • SSAT or PSAT for students applying for grade 11.
      • SAT or ACT for students applying for a post graduate (PG) year.
      • TOEFL for students for whom English is not their first language.  Our school code is 8039.
    • Application fee ($170 for international students)
  2. Check your application status on our admission portal.  Usernames are generally an email address for the applicant and firstname.lastname (john.doe) for a parent.  If you do not know your password, click the "forgot password" link.
  3. Supplemental materials are optional. Please submit materials electronically to our Admissions Office.
  4. Submit your completed application by January 15th
  5. Notification Dates
    • March 10: Decisions are posted on the Admission Portal.
    • April 10: Signed Enrollment agreements and deposits due for newly enrolled students.

Chinese Applicant Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I schedule a campus visit?
  • After applicants have paid their application fee and submitted a Vericant Interview, as well as TOEFL and SSAT scores, the Admissions Office will select and invite qualified candidates to interview on campus.  Invitations will be made during the month of December and early January. All interested families are invited to tour the school during the months of June, July, and early August.
  • I am already studying in the U.S. this year. Do I have to interview with Vericant?
  • A student who is currently studying at a school in the U.S. is not required to interview with Vericant.
  • I am already studying in the U.S. this year. Do I have to submit a TOEFL?
  • Yes, unless you have attended school in the United States for three years or more.
  • I attend a school where the instruction is in English. Do I have to have a TOEFL and Vericant interview?
  • Yes.
  • What is the Vericant deadline for your school?
  • December 1.
  • If I work with a very good consultant, do I have to go through Vericant?
  • Yes, we require the Vericant interview for all applicants whether or not they are working with consultants.
  • Is there a minimum TOEFL requirement?
  • Most successful applicants score at least 105 on the internet-based TOEFL.
  • What else should I keep in mind when applying?
  • We look for well-rounded students who can contribute to the life of our school in many different ways. To that end, we encourage applicants to present as independent and authentic profile of themselves as possible in their applications.
