Instructions for applicants from mainland China

Application requirements are the same as outlined on the Apply to Kent page with the following exceptions regarding interviews and campus visits (please allow two days for processing of TOEFL and application submissions):

The following items are needed to schedule a personal interview via Zoom and/or campus visit:

1.    Inquiry Form
2.    Part 1 (demographic information) of the application and application fee must be submitted (using the Standard Application Online or through Gateway to Prep Schools)
3.    Official copy of a TOEFL score of 105 or higher sent through ETS using our school code #8039

If you have a TOEFL score less than 105, we will still accept application, but here are the requirements for those with TOEFL scores below 105:

1.    Inquiry Form
2.    Part 1 (demographic information) of the application and application fee must be submitted (using the Standard Application Online or through  Gateway to Prep Schools)
3.    Interview via Vericant, accessible to Kent School by November 15, to be reviewed by Kent following the November 15 deadline.
4.    If you have not been contacted by Admissions to schedule a campus interview by December 1, the Vericant interview will satisfy the interview requirement portion of your application, and you may have the opportunity to tour the  campus after February 1.   

Chinese Applicant Frequently Asked Questions

  • I am already studying at an English-speaking school. Do I have to interview with Vericant and submit a TOEFL score?
  • All applicants for whom English is not their primary language must submit a TOEFL score as a required part of the application for admission. To schedule a campus visit/interview, you must either supply an official TOEFL score of 105 or above or have completed at least 2 years in an English-speaking school. Otherwise, applicants must complete their initial interview via Vericant Global Interview.
  • What is the Vericant deadline for your school?
  • November 15
  • If I work with a very good consultant, do I have to go through Vericant?
  • The requirements for Chinese applicants are generally the same regardless of whether or not they are working with a consultant.
  • Is there a minimum TOEFL requirement to apply?
  • Although there is a minimum requirement in order to have a personal interview and/or campus visit, there is no minimum requirement needed to apply.
  • What else should I keep in mind when applying?
  • We look for well-rounded students who can contribute to the life of our school in many ways. To that end, we encourage applicants to present an independent and authentic profile of themselves in their applications.
