Application Process

Complete our inquiry form. Once you've submitted your inquiry, you'll receive information about visiting campus and upcoming admissions events.

After submitting an inquiry, we encourage families to schedule a campus tour and interview as part of the admissions process. We understand that visiting campus is not always possible, and families who are unable to travel are encouraged to connect with the Admissions Office to discuss options for completing the interview requirement. 

Standardized test scores are optional for most applicants, and families may choose whether to include them as part of their application.

SSAT
If submitting SSAT scores, please use Kent School's SSAT code: 4336.

SAT, PSAT & ACT
Applicants entering 11th or 12th grade (Fifth or Sixth Form) or Post-Graduate students who choose to submit standardized test scores should send SAT, PSAT, or ACT scores directly to the Admissions Office.

English Language Proficiency Testing
Students whose first language is not English are required to submit English language proficiency test scores.

• TOEFL: Kent accepts all TOEFL formats, including the TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition.
  School Code: 8039 (TOEFL superscoring is used.)
• Duolingo English Test: Accepted in place of TOEFL.

When you're ready to apply, you may submit your application through either Standard Application Online (SAO) or Gateway to Prep Schools. Both platforms provide a complete application experience and are given equal consideration in our admissions process. Please select the platform that works best for you and submit your application only through that platform.

To be considered complete, applications must be submitted by January 15 and include the following required materials:

• Biographic information
• Student essays
• Recommendations
  • Counselor or Principal
  • English
  • Math
• Transcripts: Current and prior year
• Application fee

Families seeking financial aid should indicate their intent to apply for aid on the Parent Form of the Application for Admission. Once indicated, families can complete the financial aid application through Clarity. The application opens on October 15, and the deadline to apply is January 15. Clarity

Admissions decisions are released through the admissions portal on March 10.

Families of admitted students should complete the enrollment process by submitting the signed enrollment agreement by April 10.

Application requirements for international applicants are the same as those outlined above, with the following exceptions for interviews and campus visits.

To schedule a campus visit and personal interview, please complete the following:

• Submit an Inquiry Form.
• Complete Part 1 (demographic information) of the application and submit the application fee through either Standard Application Online or Gateway to Prep Schools.
• Submit an official TOEFL score of 5.5 (107) or higher (using school code 8039) through ETS or an official Duolingo English Test score of 135 or higher.

Please allow at least two business days for processing TOEFL scores and application submissions.

If you do not have the required English proficiency test scores or are unable to visit campus for an interview, you may still submit your application. In these cases, a Vericant interview is required to fulfill the interview requirement. Applicants should contact Vericant directly to schedule an interview. Once completed, the interview will be sent to Kent for review.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I am already studying at an English-speaking school. Do I still have to meet the 5.5 (107) TOEFL score minimum to schedule a campus visit and personal interview? 
All applicants for whom English is not their primary language must submit a TOEFL score as a required part of the application for admission. To schedule a campus visit/interview, you must either supply an official TOEFL score of 5.5 (107) or higher or have completed at least 2 years in an English-speaking school. Otherwise, applicants must complete their initial interview via Vericant Global Interview.

What is the Vericant deadline for your school?
January 15

If I work with a very good consultant, do I still need to meet the 5.5 (107) TOEFL minimum needed for a personal interview?
The requirements for Chinese applicants are generally the same regardless of whether or not they are working with a consultant.

Is there a minimum TOEFL requirement to apply?
Although there is a minimum requirement in order to have a personal interview/campus visit, there is no minimum requirement needed to apply.

We look for well-rounded students who can contribute to the life of our school in many ways. To that end, we encourage applicants to present an independent and authentic profile of themselves in their applications.
