Psychology and Religion

Psychology and Religion
This study teaches how to think, rather than what to think. Each class draws on philosophy, psychology, historical criticism, and the identification of “problematics.”

Psychology and religion help us better understand ourselves and the diverse world around us. At Kent, studying both encourages empathy, broadens cultural awareness, and deepens our understanding of human thought and behavior.

Establishing Context and Fostering Respect
By examining how people make meaning through both psychology and religion, we cultivate respect for every person’s perspective and lived experience.

Open, Critical Thinking
Kent’s Psychology & Religion faculty model how to think critically about belief, behavior, and identity—demonstrating that analysis and reflection strengthen both faith and self-knowledge.

A Sense of Wonder
At the root of psychology and religion are profound questions about mind, spirit, and human existence. As you ask questions and pursue answers, you will be encouraged to maintain a sense of wonder and awe in your exploration.
