Three distinguished alumni visited campus to present the first in an ongoing series, “The Kent Alumni Forum - Lessons from Experience.”
John Read ’65, former CEO of Outward Bound, Alexandra Davis DiPentima ’71, Chief Judge State of CT Appellate Court, and Fred Schoch ’69, Executive Director of the Head of the Charles Regatta, spoke about their education, service, and what they wish they had known when they were Kent students.
Said DiPentima, "When you're at college, enjoy yourself, but go to class! Take advantage of the courses at college."
Schoch spoke about the importance of networking, and always talking to people who can help you on your way.
Read went into details about a career as a journey, and one that doesn't always need a clear path. He talked about the importance of the "back side of the resume" and all of the failures and "mind-numbing screw-ups." He believes that accomplishment comes from failure and is built on failure.
Students had many great questions about what the panel looks for in an intern and how they knew they were in the right career.
