Head of the Charles, the world’s largest regatta, is held each October on the Charles River in Massachusetts. Over 8,000 athletes from across the globe compete in 55 different events. The Regatta expects over 300,000 spectators in 2010. Fred Schoch, the Regatta’s executive director since 1991, has guided the event to its current size, including the expansion to two days in 1997.
