Ann Dickinson ’65 and Richard Purington have made a magnificent charitable commitment in order to enable our Board of Trustees to establish the St. Philip’s Scholarship at Kent.
The Scholarship will be awarded to a highly-qualified student from St. Philip’s Academy, Newark, New Jersey, founded in 1988, who aspires to attend Kent School. The candidates will excel in academics, arts, athletics, service, leadership and character. The inaugural St. Philip’s Scholar at Kent will be Sally Njoge of Orange, New Jersey. She is currently President of her class at St. Philip’s.
Ms. Dickinson and Mr. Purington noted, “We see this scholarship as a natural expression of our mutual interests in two outstanding educational institutions: St. Philip's Academy in Newark, NJ and Kent School in Kent, CT. The prospect of enabling a talented and worthy student from St. Philip's to receive a Kent education and to become a member of the Kent community is very exciting. We are confident that St. Philip's Scholars will contribute greatly to Kent in the years to come.”
Mr. Purington is a distinguished Trustee of St. Philip’s Academy and Ms. Dickinson is a Trustee of Kent, a former Vice President of the Board, and currently serves as Chair of the Planning Committee and as a member of the Executive Committee.
