Theodore Boyomo ’10 has been nominated for the 2010 McDonald’s High School All-American Basketball Game. While this comes as no surprise—Boyomo ranks as one of the most highly recruited seniors in the northeastern United States—it still stands as yet another remarkable achievement for this remarkable young man.
A native of Yaounde, Cameroon, Boyomo arrived at Kent in the fall of 2007 as a 16-year-old sophomore and quickly made his mark as not just an outstanding athlete but a superb citizen and student as well. Despite his unfamiliarity with the English language, Boyomo has been on Kent’s Honor Roll for six consecutive terms. As a result, he is not only being heavily recruited by high-profile Division I basketball programs, but also by Ivy League schools as well.
On the court, Boyomo’s unique natural ability and competitive toughness have established him as a dominant force in prep basketball. With a 7’2” wingspan and tremendous athleticism, he has been widely recognized as the top defensive player in the region; as the New England Recruiting Report recently noted, “The big man is as college ready of a defensive anchor as there is in New England.” However, it is on the offensive side where Boyomo has shown the greatest improvement, not just close to the basket but from the perimeter as well.
Nominations for the McDonald’s All-American Game are chosen by a national panel of coaches and journalists. The game, held annually, recognizes the top 24 high school seniors in the United States
