Kent alumnus Mamoon Darwish ’07 was the first Palestinian student to attend and graduate from Kent. Mr. Darwish was one of the three first recipients of The Mohamed Habbi Scholarship, established to give Arab Muslim students who have outstanding academic and personal records as well as leadership potential in their own communities, the opportunity to study at Kent.
Upon graduation, Mr. Darwish went on to continue his studies at Brandeis University in a Transitional Year Program. He then served as a Resident Advisor with Middlebury College’s summer program for Arab language instruction to American junior and senior high school students. Upon completion of the summer Arabic program, Mr. Darwish began his undergraduate study at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.
