KENT Musicians Attend All New England Festival

Kent recently sent some of its finest musicians to the All-New England and All-Eastern Music Festivals. Frank Huang ’09, Nora Nadire ’10 and Emily Bredemeyer ’10 headed to Durham, CT for three days over spring break to attend the All-New England Festival. Students from all over New England congregated at Coginchaug Regional High School to exhibit their extraordinary talent.

The students were housed with local host families for two nights. At the festival, Nadire and Huang participated in the choir, and Bredemeyer played the violin. In a choir of 260 high school students, our Kent students performed impressively through all seven songs. Nadire commented, “the music that the conductor chose was difficult to learn, but the concert turned out well. She had us improvise in a song by Bach, and we did sign language and hand motions. That was an interesting way to interpret the song.”
The festival was a place to bond and meet students from various parts of New England. At one point, the conductor had all of the seniors in the choir stand and announce their plans for college. The New England music festival was a fun and musical weekend for all those involved.
In addition to the All New England festival, Huang was selected to participate in All-Eastern, a similar and highly prestigious festival that features the most talented musicians from the entire eastern region of the country. Huang’s talents have earned him the opportunity to meet and perform with some of the best young musicians in the country. Huang, along with Nadire and Bredemeyer, feel grateful to have been a part of such a high-level festival and look forward to further improving their talent.
