Kent School will soon be the new home of the nationally-acclaimed three-day Litchfield Jazz Festival and one-to-four week sessions of Litchfield Jazz Camp.
“Litchfield Jazz Camp had recently embarked on a long-term association for 2009 and beyond with Kent School,” Vita Muir, Executive Director of Litchfield Performing Arts says, explaining the move. “With the jazz camp on the campus, an invitation and warm welcome from the Kent community quickly followed,” Muir says. "It was clear," she adds, "this would be the year that Litchfield Jazz came to Kent — lock, stock, and barrel. Kent School's gorgeous campus on the banks of the Housatonic provides the perfect backdrop for the festival as well as the camp."
The Litchfield Jazz Festival will take place on the Kent School campus July 31- August 2, 2009 and comes at the end of the four-week Litchfield Jazz Camp program (July 5-31), which enrolls several hundred students from many states and around the world, who practice and perform under the direction of professional jazz musicians and recording artists led by Music Director, Don Braden.
