Summer Instructions from the Tech Center

Please contact us if you have a question or any trouble—we’re happy to help!
We are here all summer.

If you didn’t get a chance to check your local admin password before leaving campus, you should still take this step to avoid problems with your computer during the summer.

Confirm That You Know Your Local Admin Password

In XP, log in as Administrator. In Vista, log in as LAdmin. If you can recall your password and are able to log in, skip to Step 2.

If not, you need to reset your local admin password. Choose a hard-to-guess password and keep it safe. If you forget this password and get locked out of your computer, we cannot help you unless the computer is brought to the tech center.

Windows XP

Log into the computer using your student network account. Click Start, right-click on My Computer, and select Manage from the menu that appears.

In the Computer Management window, click on Local Users and Groups. In the right column, double-click on Users.

Right-click Administrator and click Set password. Enter a good password.
