Ever since Kent was founded in 1906, parents have played a vital role in maintaining the School's excellence, helping it grow, and continually making it better. They have done this in all kinds of ways, but over the last several years parents of graduating Sixth Formers have found a particularly meaningful and productive means of enhancing the teaching and learning at Kent: The Senior Parent Gift.

For nearly a decade, parents in each graduating class have tried to raise $500,000 or more for a special gift to the School as a tribute to their children and their Kent experience. The Senior Parent Gift is its own unique initiative for an endowment or capital project, which is separate from and in addition to the wonderful support of the Parents Annual Fund. Senior Parent Gifts have helped establish teaching chairs, provided for student enrichment beyond the classroom, provided resources for faculty development, established a merit scholarship funds, provided funds for important capital building projects.

For you, as a parent, the Senior Parent Gift can be a generous tribute to your child's experience here. For us, it is a tremendous acknowledgement of success—the School's, the community's, the students’, yours. It is a sign that all of us together have nurtured and nourished a new group of young people who are educated and enthusiastic, caring and competent. They are ready for life ahead.

The Senior Parent Gift is presented on Prize Day weekend on the day before graduation ceremonies. It is no coincidence, for, quite similar to a diploma, the Senior Parent Gift celebrates the past and makes possible the future.
