Community Service Update

The tradition of volunteerism which has distinguished America among nations is alive and well at Kent. Our students and faculty are kind-hearted and determined to make a difference in the world. Dedication For The Dedicated: William Hartwell Perry, Jr. Rowing Shell Christened

Rowing Shell ChristenedThe William Hartwell Perry Jr. rowing shell was christened on Saturday, November 8th in honor of longtime Kent crew coach, Hart Perry. Alumni from the Classes of 1966 to 1986 returned for the occasion. Murray Beach ’72 and Mitch Tamkin ’76 paid tribute to Hart and spoke about the profound influence he had on their lives, well beyond their years at Kent.

Hart Perry coached at Kent from 1961 to 1995. During that period, the Kent boys first and second boats won the New England Interscholastic Rowing Association Championship 11 times.  In 1972 Kent won the Princess Elizabeth Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta.  Mr. Perry has been inducted into the Kent Athletic Hall of Fame, the Dartmouth Rowing Hall of Fame and the National Rowing Hall of Fame.
