Community Service is a big part of life here at Kent. Maybe that's because so many students have figured out how interesting, enriching, and even downright fun it can be. With projects like the Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen or the Kent School Day Care Center, you'll spend an afternoon or two a week not just doing good work but actually forming bonds and making friends.

Some of the projects focus on raising awareness, raising funds, or even raising spirits: STAND coalition members talk to people about Darfur, FABB students help pay for inner-city school students, and those involved in My Soldier Club send letters and packages to troops overseas.

Then there is community service work that will involve travel and only happens once a year, say during spring or summer breaks. You might build houses in North Carolina or adobe stoves in Mexico. Maybe you'll teach in Peru or plant teak trees in El Salvador. No matter what you choose, these are amazing trips that can be hard work, but they will open your eyes and open up your world.

Read through the descriptions below for more details on Kent community service projects. You'll even find descriptions and photos of past trips students have taken.
