KENT FIRST BOAT
KENT CREW

5/17 - 5/22

Crew coach Eric Houston proudly nominated his First Boat as this week’s male “Athletes”.

“With a final regular season record of 28-1, the boys First Boat won the New England championship in convincing fashion, crossing the finish line a full 5 seconds in front of race rivals Andover, Exeter, St. Paul’s, Salisbury, and Hanover.

Twenty two boy’s eight programs are members of the NEIRA, and only 18 qualify for the chance to compete for the Fredrick Hubert Sill Trophy. With heats in the morning, Kent defeated 5 opponents to earn a lane in the finals on Saturday afternoon.

In addition to the success of the first boat, both the second and third boats won silver medals, earning Kent the overall team trophy, named in honor of Hart Perry. Thus, Kent brought home two of the three trophies at the regatta named in honor of previous Kent coaches.

The first boat will continue their season by competing in the Youth Rowing National Championships in Cincinnati, Ohio in June 11th - 13th,  and then overseas at the Henley Royal Regatta in July.”

Congratulations and good luck to the First Boat!

Lauren Brady '10

LAUREN BRADY ’10
GIRLS VARSITY LACROSSE

5/17 - 5/22

Girls Varsity lacrosse coach Cortney Tetrault nominates Senior Prefect Lauren Brady as this week’s female “Athlete of the Week”.

“Four year varsity member Lauren Brady finished off a terrific athletic career at Kent with 30 goals and several key defensive saves, especially in our come-from-behind victory over Ethel Walker.  At half time, Kent was down by 5 goals, and tied the game with 4 minutes remaining, thanks to Lauren’s outstanding individual defense. The winning margin was 2 goals, and Lauren was clutch in possessing the ball much of the time as time expired.

Lauren won the Walcott-Mulligan Award (Most Valuable Defender) this season. I have thoroughly enjoyed coaching Lauren the past 3 years, and wish her the best of luck with the soccer and lacrosse teams at Hamilton College next year!”

Congratulations and thanks, Lauren!
