The Sports Medicine Team at Kent is integrated and multidisciplinary. They understand that they have been entrusted with the health and well being of the student-athletes at Kent School. The Team is comprised of the School Physician, nurses, Certified Athletic Trainer, student trainers, and coaches. They are dedicated to the care, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries while maximizing athletic performance and a safe return to sport. At Kent, the athlete’s evaluation of injuries and illness is based on standing orders established by the school physician and the athletic trainer. All athletic injuries must be reported to the athletic trainer for evaluation and referral to the school physician when deemed necessary. At Kent, we pride ourselves on not just treating an injury but treating the injured athlete as a person.
Kent School employs an N.A.T.A. Certified Athletic Trainer. In addition, the Certified Athletic Trainer is trained in C.P.R. for the Professional Rescuer A.E.D. and Administering Emergency Oxygen.
Evaluations, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries are performed during the academic day. An injured athlete can set up an appointment with the athletic trainer during a free period, or conference period. If the athlete does not have a free period, he/she can call or e-mail the Athletic Trainer so another time can be arranged.

Student training at Kent is an experience that promotes lifelong skills, friendships, respect, responsibility, and above all, self-confidence.
The skills that are learned instill a strong assurance in one's own ability at a time when it is most needed. The friendships created through the training staff develop trust, common ideas, and emotional bonds. Cognitive knowledge, hard work, and professionalism develop respect. Self-confidence is nurtured through responsibility; practice of emergency skills, proper judgement, quick and accurate decisions, as well as respect from instructors and peers.
The time put into athletic training by a student at Kent is infinitesimal compared with the lifelong values, friendships, respect, and confidence gained.
