Boys Varsity Basketball completed one of its most successful seasons in the past few years, finishing with a 15-6 record. Led by Captain Brandon Adams, the team played a tough early season schedule finishing the last eight games with a 4-4 record. Kent then went on an 11 game winning streak to push its record to 15-4. In that stretch, Kent beat a solid Canterbury tram on the road at night on a rebound shot by Sean Goodrich with less than five seconds to go. We defeated a talented Taft team for the second time this season at Taft behind the solid play of guard Will Harford and Ivan Paladin. The Lions also had a great win at Kingswood 15-1 at the time) with key contributions from Austin Douglas, Nick Drexel and Gabe Wafula. Kent lost its last regular season game to Trinity-Pawling and then faced Trinity-Pawling again in the first round of the Class B New England tournament, losing by eleven points.
Seniors Joe Alaniz, J.D. Awad, Brian Fagan, and Alex Drayson made significant contributions on and off the court throughout the season. Brad Seaman – greatly missed when injured in the middle of the season – was critical as our starting point guard. Wafula, Sterling Wilson, and Nick Iida return to next year’s team and a good deal is expected of them. Unselfish play, hard work, enthusiasm, and teamwork characterized this group of talented and spirited players.
