2004-2005 Varsity Boy's Basketball
Season Summary
Boys Varsity Basketball completed a successful 12-9 season, defeating Trinity-Pawling, the eventual Class B New England Champions, at T-P in the final game of the regular season. The win catapulted Kent into the New England Tournament for the first time in several years. The Kent team, captained by Alex Lundren, dealt with some significant absences over the course of the season. Josh Jones, starting center, missed the three games of the Loomis Christmas Tournament with a strained muscle in his leg. Frane Markusivic missed almost six weeks with a stress fracture in his ankle and Glenn Phillips was unable to play the last three weeks of the season. Despite these absences, Kent improved significantly over the course of the winter campaign. There is no better example of this improvement than the thrilling victory over Trinity-Pawling, the only team to have beaten Kent badly all season.
The Lions were led by co-Most Valuable Players, Andre Geraghty and Peter Trgovich. Andre was the team leader at point guard and Pete was the team’s leading scorer. Josh Jones was a rugged rebounder and developed as a scorer as the year progressed, tallying 24 against Hotchkiss. Barron Perry, the leading scorer in the last T-P game with 21 points, played great defense and worked hard all season. Brandon Adams had 17 rebounds in the last T-P regular season game and was a real scoring threat and competitor. Glen Phillips came off the bench and added instant offensive spark. Alex Lundgren and Marcus Craigwell also made significant contributions off the bench. Chris Taft, Colin Benko, Raleigh Gallington, and Ryan Lidrazzah all made significant contributions to practice and whenever they got on the court. The team lost five games by a combined thirteen point over the course of the season yet never became discouraged. Unselfish commitment to the team was one of the main characteristics of the group
