Manned with 6 returning starters
and the addition of Brent Herbert and Jack Corey, Boys Tennis
began the season with high expectations. Following 3 hard fought
losses to start the 2004 campaign - all to talented squads - the
team ran off 6 consecutive victories, placing Kent in contention
for end of term tournament play. #1 singles player Herbert
won all his matches during that stretch with Eric Mason and
Sean Becket - at #2 and #3 singles respectively - also dominating
their competition. Earl Thompson twice pulled out dramatic
come-from-behind victories winning the decisive fourth team
point in 4-3 victories. Playing #5 singles, Nick Wijnberg won
all but two matches all season and #6 singles player James
Bohanon put together an impressive series of wins in mid-season,
further helping the team's cause. Under Head Coach Jim Macleod's
leadership, the team earned an invitation to the New England
tournament with Brent Herbert also receiving an invite to the
individual season-end showcase.
