2003-2004 Fall Season Summary: Varsity
Boys' Soccer
The Boys Varsity
Soccer Team finished the season with a thrilling 0-0 tie against
perennial soccer powerhouse Loomis-Chaffee. In this contest
the defense, manned by Rod Barboza in net, sweeper and Captain-elect
Chris Taft, Elan Rotklein as stopper, and outside backs Jeff
Nordaas and Ben Cook did a superb job turning back many solid
attacks even with strong gusting winds blowing against the
Lions. Ably led by this year's captains Nico Drojohowski and
Alden Cook, the game highlighted the heart and hustle that
were the cornerstones of the team.
Early in the season, Trey Archer the team's
leading scorer, scored twice in a well-played match against
Williston-Northampton while Matthew Heslop was able to score
a beautiful goal in the final minute of play to break a tie
against Berkshire. Much hustle, defense and offense were displayed
throughout the season from outside midfielders Sean Becket,
Ryan Miner and Danny Drohojowski. Many players this season
such as Graham Drury, Greg MacFarlane and Brent Herbert played
in new positions and their willingness to put forth 100% effort
into the changes was admirable. All in all, despite the setbacks,
the Boys Soccer Team had a memorable season.
