Led by a strong senior class,
including Captains Lara Schmitz and Courtney Comstock, girls
lacrosse finished the season with a winning record, an impressive
feat considering their schedule included many of New England's
top teams. Behind the offensive firepower of Caroline Thomas
(45 goals, 16 assists) and Lindsay Lawten (37 goals, 6 assists),
the squad regularly unleashed an offensive charge opponents
could not match. When paired with the solid defensive core
of Jo Glass , Suzanne Willis and Marissa Mullane, the team
was far from one dimensional, limiting each of six opponents
to fewer than 5 goals.
After close losses to Hotchkiss
and Choate early in the season, standout returnees such as
Brit Allen, Jordan Pyers and Kendra Schwindt led the team on
an impressive run during the middle of the season. Team highlights
included a 14-7 victory over Berkshire in the programs first
ever night contest and a 17-10 win over Kingswood-Oxford to
end the spring one game over the .500 mark. The team was ably
led by first year coach Liza Davis.
A Word from
the Coach: Liza

The Kent School Girls Varsity Lacrosse
program has consistently been based on a strong tradition
of competitive distinction and sportsmanship. Recognizing
the value of interscholastic sports in the personal development
of young women, the lacrosse program looks to challenge its
players both physically and mentally as students, athletes
and leaders. Learning to build a strong and supportive team
dynamic is also considered an important goal of the lacrosse
program, and is something that sets us apart from many other
teams.
In addition to the varsity and junior varsity
squads, because of the growing popularity of the sport, Kent
has recently added a skills team to its program to ensure
that all interested students have a chance to play and learn
the game. The continued success of the program each year
depends on the interest and enthusiasm of its incoming players.
