As difficult as the season was
for Boys Hockey , the team came to practice the entire term
with a positive attitude and strong work ethic. This effort
and attitude could be traced largely to Captain Alden Cook
who led by example both in practices and games. Brian Hatch's
and Harry Edward's shoulder problems and Marc Buck's leg injury
added to the hurdles the team had to overcome. The goaltending
continued to improve and the squad as a whole improved and
became a stronger contender each game. Four younger players,
Denis DesJardins, Brandon Simonini, Marc Trostle and Brett
O'Neill progressed with each shift. Their play, along with
that of Cook and seniors Jeff Nordaas and Adrian Sosenko was
instrumental in making the team competitive by season end.
The final game, a 4-3 come-from-behind win over Choate, gave
the team a sweet ending to a difficult season. Two goals in
the last minute and a half, one with the net empty to tie the
game and the game winner with twenty-seven seconds remaining,
gave the team a win they will always remember - a wonderful
performance for the seniors to end their Kent careers and for
the underclassmen to build on for next year.
