Boys Crew enjoyed another superb
season, highlighted with sweeps of all 3 boats at Andover,
Exeter and the Connecticut Championships. The first and second
boats were also able to avenge early season losses to St. John's,
beating them in the season's final regular season race. Heading
into New England's all three boats earned either first or second
seeds.
The third boat finished a strong 3 rd
at the NEIRA's, concluding the season with a 13-7 record. Although
there were three rookies aboard, the 2 nd boat ended with a record
of 18-6. Overcoming the loss of its first two boats caused by
an accident the previous night, boys crew competed in New England's
in borrowed boats. Despite this formidable obstacle, the first
boat won the morning heat, staving off challenges from Brunswick
and Exeter before falling off to a fifth place finish in a closely
contested final. When the dust had settled, the first boat claimed
an impressive 16-9 season record and continued its season with
a trip to Belgium and England to race in the Reading and Marlow
Regattas in mid June with coach Houston at the helm. Taking seats
in the first boat were Captains Antonio Brecevich and Emerson
Curry, along with Sean McGillick, Alex Tye, Ben Schramm, Graham
Drury, Christian Mongendre, Brian De Regt and cox Drew Davis.
