The baseball team's record belies
the competitive nature of the young team (12 of 14 members
were underclassmen). In the term's final week alone, the team
lost in extra innings to Taft, 10-9, and Westminster, 5-4,
then played competitively before falling to league champion
Avon and their ace pitcher, losing by a 4 run margin (10-6)
in the season finale. The high point of the season was a come-from-behind
6-4 win over Choate (and their top pitcher) who traveled to
Kent with a 9-1 record. Leading the way in that game and throughout
much of the season was 5 th form captain Ben Silver. Ben hit
a home run in the sixth inning and drove in the winning runs
with a single in the sixth while also getting the win in a
relief pitching stint as he retired all 4 batters he faced
to close out the game.
Brett O'Neill ('05) was a threat every
time he stepped to the plate, hitting just shy of .500 for
the year and leading the team with 3 homeruns. 6 th former
Jordan Thesserault was also productive at the plate, and gave
his teammates a chance to win each time he stepped to the mound,
establishing himself as the ace of the staff. Senior captain
Taylor Killian provided strong leadership and under formers
Taylor Donner, Alex Shipper, Joe Alaniz, Denis Desjardin, Brendan
Lavery, Marc-Andre Mireault and Andrew Wolinski provide much
hope for the 2005 season.
