Boys Varsity Ice Hockey

Message from the Coach:
Kent School has a long tradition of hockey - the first team dates back to 1911. Historically, this tradition has been carried on by young men who have represented Kent through hard work, selflessness and dedication to academics and to their sport. Kent competes in the Founders league, which is consistently one of the highest levels of hockey competition for high school-age players in the country. Players learn not only the skills of the game, but leadership and teamwork that will last well past their high school careers.

This highly competitive schedule and focus on development has led many of our players to aptly pursue their hockey aspirations in college and beyond. Most recently in the 2008 NHL entry draft, Kent had two players taken, one in the third round and the other in the seventh, by the San Jose Sharks. Kent Hockey prides itself on the development of student athletes using the most up-to-date training techniques ranging from game video analysis to player conditioning through personalized training programs. Player readiness is developed in the rink and in Kent’s new state-of-the-art fitness center. Kent Hockey prides itself on being competitive in the rink while also teaching young men the skills that will carry them well into their future.

Coach Dale Reinhardt is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross where he was a four-year letter-winner and voted assistant captain for his senior season. He helped the Crusaders to an Atlantic Hockey Championship in 2006 and a berth in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament.  In 2008, he was a finalist for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS award, which honors the attributes of community, classroom, character and competition. After his collegiate career, Coach Reinhardt played professional hockey for the “AA” affiliates Anaheim Ducks (Bakersfield Condors) and LA Kings (Ontario Reign) in the ECHL. He has been the head hockey coach of the Kent Lions hockey team since 2013 and has worked with USA Hockey’s select national festivals since 2009. Coach Reinhardt brings experience, passion, and knowledge of the game to Kent Hockey.  In addition, Coach Reinhardt aims to develop the values and skills of leadership, self-reliance, and decorum in order to cultivate strong citizens in the Kent community and beyond. Coach Reinhardt also teaches in the History department, advises students, acts as a dorm parent, and coaches golf.
