The purpose of the Kent School Athletic Hall of Fame is to recognize and honor Kent alumni and other members of the School community whose past athletic accomplishments are of the highest caliber and reflect the values of the School.
The Athletic Hall of Fame is housed in the Father Sill Trophy Room in Magowan Field House. The names of the inductees will be inscribed on plaques located along the Hall of Fame wall.
Candidates for the Athletic Hall of Fame will be nominated each year by Kent’s Reunion Classes. While nominees will be accepted from all Classes, they will be inducted ONLY during their Reunion years. The annual induction ceremony will be held during Reunion Weekend.
Inductees will be selected by a Committee chaired by the Director of Athletics and made up of a select group of alumni, faculty, administrators, and members of the Alumni Council and the Board of Trustees.
Inductees are chosen based on the following criteria:
-
Eligibility for admission begins the sixth year after the nominee graduates from Kent or reaches retirement from coaching. Posthumous candidates are considered on equal terms with living candidates.
-
The nominee must have been a letter winner whose athletic accomplishments represent the highest caliber of achievement of his/her time.
-
Selection will be based primarily on athletic accomplishments while at Kent. Subsequent achievements in athletics and other areas will also be taken into consideration.
-
Coaches, other members of the School community, and athletes with extraordinary cases may be admitted to membership (extraordinary cases should be interpreted to include premature termination of an athletic career due to injury or a situation wherein an athlete's accomplishments, after leaving Kent, bring great credit and glory to the school).
