The KENT Girls Varsity Soccer team recently received a commendation from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for their high level of academic achievement and strong work ethic in the classroom. To qualify, the overall team GPA for the entire years’ grades was to be above 3.25 on a 4.0 scale. While soccer programs for girls from across the United States earned this award, KENT is one of seven schools in Connecticut to be recognized, and only one other New England boarding school was similarly honored.
Head Coach Jesse Klingebiel is proud of the achievements of his team on the field, in the classroom and in all areas of life at Kent. A graduate of the University of New Hampshire and Bucknell University, Jesse serves as Chair of the Science Department. He joined faculty in 1994 and has coached Girls Varsity Soccer since 2001. Coach Klingebiel has received several Sportsmanship Awards from the Western CT Soccer Officials Association, the 2005 and 2010 Ted Alex Sportsmanship Award and the 2007 Andy Pitonak Sportsmanship Award. He brings his love of the “world’s greatest game” built upon a lifetime as a soccer player and coach. The daily challenge of inspiring young athletes to improve themselves every day technically, tactically and mentally is one that he takes on with great enthusiasm.
