Girls began rowing at Kent in 1973. During the early years the girls trained and raced only in the fall; however, in the 1982-83 school year an extremely dedicated and talented group of young women won the high school division at the Head of the Charles regatta in the fall. They wanted the chance to line up against the best teams in the spring racing season. They were allowed to race the additional season and went on to win the NEIRA regatta in the spring of 1983. Since then, at the first boat level, the Kent girls have won six more championships (1985, 1986, 1987, 1996, 1997 & 2005) to bringing the total to seven in twenty five years....
