Varsity Soccer News

The boys' varsity soccer team advanced to the finals of the Class A New England tournament for the second straight year. Winless through the first seven games, the team showed their mettle with a strong season finish that earned them the number five seed. Surely the season highlight was the boys' stunning 4-2 win over rival Hotchkiss in the semifinals. They not only beat the undefeated number one seed who was going for their third straight New England title, but in scoring four goals equaled the total goals scored against them all year. This followed an exciting overtime win in the first round against Exeter. In the finals, Northfield Mount Hermon turned that around scoring an overtime "golden" goal to cap a truly remarkably year.

All in all a mild afternoon, though there's an occasionally gusty wind out of the west that may change that. It will surely cool down over the course of the match. The field here is an artificial surface in the 2nd year of use. It's also used for football and lacrosse.
