The arts program at Kent is both broad and deep; you'll find lots of opportunities in visual arts, dance, drama and music. Whether you come to Kent as an accomplished musician, artist, singer, actor, or dancer or you're someone who's always been curious about arts but never had the opportunity to explore them, the quality of our program and the caliber of instruction will help you realize your full artistic potential.
The art program starts with great arts courses and studio instruction. All of the art faculty are professional artists, and in addition to their own experience and enthusiasm, they have access to a wide range of high-tech assistance. It might be digital imaging or music composition software you download onto your laptop.
Arts instruction takes place outside the classroom, too. Visiting artists, performers, and alumni are invited to campus to present lectures, master classes, demonstrations and seminars. There are field trips to museums and galleries and Kent's Performing Arts and Lecture Series brings world-class performers to campus all year long.
Art is such an integral part of Kent that it seems the whole campus is a venue for exhibitions and performances. There are frequent concerts and plays, an exceptional arts magazine; and almost every hallway seems to do double-duty as gallery space. The pervasiveness of the arts inspires more creative thought, and not just in painting or music but in biology and English as well.
