At Kent, you can get hands-on experience in every aspect of theater. Besides acting, you can try sound or set design, you could take care of costumes, work with lighting (using our computerized light board), or be the stage manager. And, during the winter term, you'll have the opportunity to write, direct, cast and produce your very own one-act play to be performed for the whole school.

For the spring musical, the drama faculty in the English department collaborate with the music department, so you'll have the chance to work one-on-one with a professional voice coach or dance instructor and perform with the backing of a full orchestra in a skillfully executed set and lighting design, all of which is created with student participation.

In addition to the drama-related courses offered to seniors through the English department, there is a vibrant and active extracurricular theatre program with many opportunities to perform in a variety of productions – some geared toward younger students, some older, and some for all in the Kent community. You can also take trips with the Kent Theater Club to New York City to see Broadway shows and other performances. Or maybe you’d like to pursue your theatrical passion through an independent study project. At Kent, you can.

So, with so much going on, there's sure to be some sort of production or drama event happening soon and they all seem to be memorable, no matter what part—or seat in the audience—you take.
