Given the colorful and creative ways that some students decorate their laptops, you might think they're not serious pieces of equipment. But these modern tools are indeed substantial. Besides improving the way you access and process information, they provide new opportunities for interacting with teachers and classmates and even for improving your work habits and creative skills.

For example, you might email your English teacher an idea for a poem and get immediate feedback late at night. Or your Ecology class can compare their data with the EPA's. (No waiting, no printing, no craning over someone else's shoulder.)

That everyone has compatible equipment with the same, state-of-the-art capabilities creates a rich educational environment in which the use of technology is real and transparent. In fact, we think it’s so important that your computer is included in the tuition at KENT. You'll walk in Orientation Week and get your own computer and learn to do what you need for the first day of class. Then you can spend the rest of your career making it your own. After all, one of the best reasons for Kent's technology program is to make your learning personal. We want our teachers to have the best tools for teaching and you to have the best tools for learning. This approach gives you the chance to shape your studies to the learning style that best suits you. It's your stuff and we want you to do with it what you will!

Your tablet PC has all the technical specifications you need for class and a great deal more. When you pick it up, it's already configured for our network and ready to go, with all of the software loaded and virus protection in place. And if you ever have any problems, the Technology Department’s authorized onsite repair staff and loaner program ensures quick repairs and minimum downtime. On top of keeping you up and running, the friendly, expert staff wants to help you make your computer do everything you want it to do. So even if it's not about academics, stop in and see them - they'll do their best to help!
