Technology plays an integral role in academics and extracurricular life at Kent. The School's technology initiative began in 1995, the first year every Kent student and teacher had a laptop computer. That's before many of you thinking about coming to Kent were born!
Over the years, technology has become part of our everyday learning - it is real and it is transparent. We believe you should be able to use the laptop you think is best for you, so bring what you prefer as long as it meets our requirements.

You'll use your laptop everywhere; our campus-wide network gives you high-speed access to both the commercial Internet and the academic Internet2. The system is comprehensive, so you can log on from any classroom, dorm room, the library, or even outside in the yards. It's simply part of life. And if you have other specific technical interests--digital photography or video, gaming, writing software, etc--you're welcome to bring additional equipment to campus. If you have questions about it, contact technology.

We know your computer's important to you. So we'll do our best to help you if you're having trouble with it or even if your computer breaks. When you come into the Tech Center during any of the six days a week we're open, you'll find our staff and student techs ready to help you.

Student Tech is one of the jobs at Kent. Interested in technology? Whether you like to play with gadgets and gizmos, you're a serious programmer, or you just want to learn more, come to the Tech Center and meet the crew…you may find it's your home away from home.
