One of the many impressive things about Kent is how high-tech everything is. For starters, you'll have your own laptop. A simple thing—it sounds like just a modern convenience—but it revolutionizes learning. It changes the way you interact with teachers, data and ideas and amplifies accessibility and immediacy of knowledge in ways that are productive, invigorating and more real world than a traditional high school setting allows.

You'll use your laptop everywhere; our campus-wide network gives you high-speed access to both the commercial Internet and the academic Internet2. The system is wireless and comprehensive, so you can log on from any classroom, dorm room, the library or administrative offices.

In your dorm room, besides having access to both Internet and Intranet, you'll have your own personal telephone. And with our unified messaging system, your voicemail is stored in your email box, so calls from Mom and Dad will never get lost in the shuffle.

And if you have other specific technical interests: digital photography or video, gaming, writing software, etc, you're welcome to bring additional equipment to campus. We just ask that you notify the Technology Department first so we can help you set it up properly for the school's systems. Also, if you're considering bringing another computer to Kent, contact us first and we'll advise you how it can fit into the system.

As much as we love information and the way technology can disseminate it, we always value and respect your privacy. Therefore, we only release information to local newspapers or publish it here on our website if we have received express written permission from you. If you made the honor roll or are Athlete of the Week and you want to tell the world, download the Publication Release form and return it to the Technology Department as soon as possible.

Any other questions? Contact the Technology Department.
