From rock bands to bell ringing, music is everywhere at Kent. In addition to the music courses we offer, there are numerous performing groups you can join, and they are busy. In fact, Kent musicians and singers perform in more than 60 concerts and recitals a year, both on and off campus. The music department even provides the orchestra that accompanies the school's spring musical. And whether you're a beginner or highly advanced, you can arrange to take private lessons with one of the many professional musicians who teach on Kent's campus.

If you're interested in writing music, there are theory courses in which you'll learn the fundamentals and come up with your own compositions. And, as usual at Kent, we use the latest technology to help you learn; there is a whole array of music software programs you can download onto your laptop from the Kentranet when you take these classes.

The music faculty at Kent are all professional singers and musicians who have performed and taught around the world. They'll encourage you to enter regional competitions, like All-Eastern Chorus, Connecticut All-State Festival and New England Music Festival. Like any good teachers, they'll show you excellent technique and keep you practicing and because they're Kent teachers, they be a little more inspired, a bit more passionate. And in Kent's music-loving environment, you will be too.
